Living in the country of Thailand was absolutely incredible.  Those 3 months will forever be some of the best memories of my life.  From teaching English to girls saved from sex- slavery to worshipping in prisons and schools, the experiences I had there were amazing. I got to see the kingdom of Heaven when I heard those girls sing praises to God with everything their voices had.  I saw Jesus in the smiles of hill tribe people, and I saw some of the roughest boys I have ever met break down in tears as they shared with us their horrific pasts.  Thailand broke my heart at times, and then at other times made it jump for joy. I love what God did in my life and the lives of others while in Thailand.  However, in this blog I want to share with you something that I experienced in my last couple weeks of being in Thailand.

I had heard before that there were terrible things going on in the country of Burma that borders Thailand, but I had never really looked into or realized what was happening in that country.  I also know for a fact that most Americans have no clue about what has been going on in that country for 30+ years, so I would like to share with you some of what I learned and saw about the awful things that have been going on in that country.  Over 30 years ago a terrible power-seeking dictator took rule in Burma after the British left this country to govern themselves.  This dictator desired that all of the Burmese people be kept in the cities so the government can regulate everything they do.  However, Burma was filled with hill tribes called the Karen people who farmed land in the mountains.  The government then began a mass genocide on these Karen people who are predominantly Christian.  You may have seen the last Rambo which was dedicated to bring awareness to the crazy injustice going on in this country.  Thousands upon thousands of people have been and are being brutally murdered for simply living where they live.  Many women have been raped and children forced to join the military forces.  I visited a refugee camp in Thailand that had over 70,000 people from Burma living in terrible conditions because they had to run for their lives.  There are 7 of these refugee camps that have been in Thailand for decades now with thousands of people who just want to be able to go home.  Most all of them with family members who were killed.  In these camps there is terrible problems with drugs, crime, and sex-trafficking.  Many have called this a secret genocide because thousands of people have been slaughtered yet barely anyone around the world knows about it.  There have been peace treaties signed, but the Burmese government simply did not honor them. I wrote this blog to bring awareness to this awful situation.  These people have truly been on my heart and in my prayers, and I hope that after reading this you begin to really hold this nation up in prayer.  They desperately need peace! Please, join me by fighting this injustice with prayer! Pray for the Karen people as they have been a part of the biggest genocide since the holocaust and pray for the Burmese soldiers that they  would have a conscience as they look down the barrel of their gun.  Above all pray for peace in that nation!  Thank you so much for your support and prayers!

P.S. I made it to Kenya with my team safely, and we are staying in a small town right on the east coast of Kenya.  I already love this country and the people here.
